Inchelium’s Issac Hoskie earns a spot in this year’s 1B/2B WIAA State title race

PASCO – After having all state activities canceled last year due to the Coronavirus Pandemic, Colville tribal member Issac Hoskie a junior for the Inchelium High School cross country team wasn’t about to have any regrets for this upcoming fall.

At the beginning of the season, Hoskie had one goal in mind, to end the season at state.

Through his hard work on determination, Hoskie would end up being one of the few 1B runners to earn a trip to Pasco where he qualified for this year’s 1B/2B WIAA State Cross-country Meet at Sun Willows Golf Course going on to place 56th overall (18:42.3) out of 112 total runners.

“It means a lot,” said a winded Hoskie after the race. “I worked for it over the past year. I was giving 100 percent, the last stretch my legs were burning. “It’s usually my lungs not my legs, I just have to work in the off-season.”

Hoskie made it to state his freshman year and was looking to go back his sophomore but the outbreak of the Coronavirus put a halt to all that.

“Last year we didn’t have one, which kind of broke my heart, but this year it’s been good and exciting,” Hoskie said.
