Colville tribal member Kyler Romero won first in the 2A 126-pound bracket in 2018.

The Washington Interscholastic Athletic Association has announced due to weather conditions, all regional wrestling tournaments scheduled for this weekend will be cancelled.

“In the best interest of safety equal opportunity for our participants, we believe it is the right decision at this time,” reads an announcement sent from Brian Smith, assistant executive director of the WIAA, to schools this morning.

The cancellation will call for changes to the Mat Classic state tournament, schedule at the Tacoma Dome, Feb. 15-16.

According to Smith’s letter, WIAA is adjusting the state brackets.

The 4A, 3A, 2A, 1A and girls’ divisions are expected to be adjusted from a 16-person to a 32-person bracket, and the B division is expected to be adjusted from an 8-person to a 24-person bracket.

Below is a list of Colville tribal members expected to be at the state tournament.

If you know of additional tribal members, please email their name, school and weigh class to tribune@colvilletribes.com or reach out to Tribal Tribune on Facebook.
