Lady Raiders sweep Liberty Bell for fifth straight win; tied for first place in CWB 2B League  

GRAND COULEE – The Lake Roosevelt softball team hasn’t struggled too much this season with scoring runs. 

They’ve rolled over their first three opponents by an average of 12 runs on their way to a 3-0 start. 

Things remained the same as the Lake Roosevelt continued their winning ways, beating Liberty Bell 13-3 and 18-0 in a doubleheader on Saturday (March. 30) afternoon at the Lady Raiders home field in Grand Coulee. 

“Were sound everywhere,” said Jackie Gross, head coach for Lake Roosevelt. “Our defense is money.” 

Lake Roosevelt improves to 5-0 overall on the season, (4-0 CWB 2B) while Liberty Bell falls to 1-4 overall and (0-3 CWB 2B) as both schools head into Spring Break. 

The Lady Raiders are currently tied with Brewster for first place in the Central Washington 2B League and will get back to action on April 9 when they play at home against Pateros. 

Game 1 

Liberty Bell jumped out to an early 3-0 lead after the first two innings but Lake Roosevelt would rally in the third, scoring three runs to tie the game up (3-3) after the third. 

The Lady Raiders would take the lead in the fourth at (5-3) and would score five more runs in the fifth to go up 10-3. They ended the game in the sixth as they tacked on three more runs to win by 10 (13-3). 

Cassidy Reyes started for Lake Roosevelt and would get the win for the Lady Raiders. 

Game 2 

Emma Warnecke cracked a 2-run home run in the first inning and from there, the Lady Raiders erupted for eight more runs, building a 10-0 lead after the first inning. 

Lake Roosevelt would pile on eight more runs in the second inning, taking an 18-0 lead and eventually the win. 

Warnecke started for the Lady Raiders and would get the win as she got the shutout and a no-hitter.
