Nanamkin brings home four top-fours at North Central Washington Invite, helps Brewster place 5th; Rasmussen wins in 400 meters

WENATCHEE – Windy conditions didn’t slow down Colville tribal member Ernie Nanamkin of Brewster on Saturday at the NCW Invite at Wenatchee High School.

The senior runner for Brewster competed in four events on the day, placing in the top four in all of them.

Nanamkin competed against bigger schools such as Okanogan, which is in the state’s 1A classification and Ephrata, in the state’s 2A classification, and against the likes of 4A schools in Wenatchee, Eastmont and A.C. Davis.

He placed second in the long jump (19-08.50), third in the 400 meters (55.41) and fourth in the Javelin with his longest throw coming in at 148 feet and three inches.

Nanamkin helped the Brewster boys team finish fifth with 69 total team points.

Adrianna Redstar, a Colville tribal member competing for Ephrata High School, placed 7th in the 1600 meters (6:34.09).

As a junior, last year, Nanamkin finised second at the WIAA 2B state finals 400 meter race. He also placed fifth in the javelin and eighth in the long jump.
