I wanted to take a quick moment to reach out and express my gratitude and appreciation for Jeanie Kent, Program Manager for the Tribes’ Early Childhood Education and Head Start Programs. She had been on the verge of bringing a new Head Start Facility to Omak. The last and final step will be coming to Management & Budget/ Community Development Committee to secure funding from the Tribes to get infrastructure to the site. We should see this $1.5 million facility constructed relatively quickly and paid for by the Office of Headstart.
Thank you, Jeanie, for bringing money to the table for your project. I hope the Tribes can do their part to set you up for success!
Speaking of setting programs up for success, early in 2021, the Colville Business Council allocated additional funding to the Colville Service Center for equipment that will allow them to serve the general membership. The program, created in 2016 to service GSA and tribal fleet vehicles, is now able to provide services to members. Thanks to the small, efficient team at the Colville Service Center for bringing this forward.
And lastly, I couldn’t close out this short message without saying how overwhelmingly pleased we all were with the Canadian Supreme Court Decision. I hope we can carry this good fortune into the future and into the next steps.
