NESPELEM – Through a six-to-five vote Colville Business Council voted in Special Session, Sep. 5, to waive ground based skidding slope restrictions for the fire salvage harvest of timber burned by the Williams Flats Fire in August.

CBC members Jack Ferguson, Joel Boyd, Janet Nicholson, Roger Finley, Richard Moses and Joe Somday voted for the corresponding resolution, while CBC members Karen Condon, Norma Sanchez, Margie Hutchinson, Jarred-Michael Erickson and Darnell Sam voted against it.

The Williams Flats Fire, which started Aug. 2 on the Colville Reservation’s Hellgate Game Reserve, burned a total of 44,446 acres.
