NESPELEM – The Colville Business Council voted on a resolution, Thursday, to buy and donate flags to the Grand Coulee School District after a request put forth by the school district’s director of Indian programs, Kim Stanger.

According to Stanger, the flags would sit in each of the classrooms in the district alongside the U.S. and state of Washington flags.

The school has already committed financially to adding additional flagpoles for the tribal flags, said Stanger.

Following the discussion, CBC approved a read a recommendation that will purchase 250 flags “for use in every school on the reservation” in the amount of $6,100. The purchase is contingent upon tribal administration identifying funding.
