NESPELEM – The Colville Business Council unanimously approved a resolution, authorizing CBC member Darnell Sam to accept the chairmanship position of the Upper Columbia United Tribes, in Special Session, Sep. 5.

UCUT is a collaborative project between the Coeur d’Alene Tribes, the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation, the Kalispel Tribe of Indians, the Kootenai Tribe of Idaho and the Spokane Tribe of Indians that is focused on “promoting fish, water, wildlife, diverse habitat and Indian culture in the Northwest,” according to the UCUT website.

Previously, CBC Chairman Rodney Cawston held the UCUT position.

Sam abstained from the vote.
