NESPELEM - In a letter to the public, Town of Nespelem Mayor Darcy Epperson announced that the recommendation to boil water is no longer in effect for residents on the town water system.

In the letter, Epperson noted the town received notification June 17 that all water tests conducted after a pump malfunction "were all clear."

Epperson further notes water levels have recovered so residents can now water outside.

The town had issued the recommendation June 11 for residents to boil water after "the well pump failed to start when the reservoir level dropped, resulting in a loss of water pressure. This loss of pressure created the possibility for contamination due to backflow."
